The All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in Bakori gathered Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the Bakori Local Government Council Chamber for a pivotal meeting presided over by the Local Government Council Chairman, Aminu Dan-Hamidu. The discussions centered on critical issues concerning the development of the Bakori Local Government Area and the welfare of its youth.
In his address, Chairman Aminu Dan-Hamidu highlighted several key initiatives aimed at enhancing the local government's infrastructure. He announced plans for the physical development of the Bakori Local Government Secretariat, which includes the construction of additional offices, including a new office for the chairman.
A significant portion of the Chairman's remarks focused on the pressing issue of youth empowerment. He made a passionate appeal for advice from stakeholders on effective strategies to make the youth in the area self-reliant and gainfully employed, thereby steering them away from societal vices.
In a move set to bolster agricultural productivity, Chairman Dan-Hamidu revealed that the State Government has allocated 10 mechanized tractors for hire by farmers within the local government area. To ensure equitable distribution and optimal utilization, each tractor will be assigned to work within one ward and will be strictly monitored with trackers to prevent operation outside the Bakori local government area.
Further enriching this initiative, a dedicated yard is currently under construction within the Secretariat to house these tractors. This facility will also serve as a service workshop for minor repairs and maintenance of the machines. Crucially, the Chairman announced that youths from Bakori Local Government Area will be trained to handle these repair and maintenance tasks, providing them with valuable skills and employment opportunities. The construction work for the yard is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.
Further demonstrating a forward-looking approach, the Chairman also shared plans for a new Secretariat and made an appeal to the state government for the construction of a new market to boost local commerce.
The meeting saw a strong turnout of influential figures, including the representative of the Bakori District Head, Alhaji Garba Ibrahim, who also serves as the Village Head of Bakori. Mansur Aminu, the former Bakori local government chairman, was also in attendance. Notably, the meeting welcomed Abdullahi Balarabe Dabai, the member representing Bakori/Danja Federal Constituency, and Rabi'u Gambo, former Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and a former Katsina deputy gubernatorial candidate under the PDP. Both Dabai and Gambo recently decamped from the PDP to the APC, marking a significant shift in the local political landscape. The Board Chairman of the Katsina State Radio and Television Services was also among the distinguished attendees.
The discussions at the stakeholders' meeting underscore the APC's commitment to advancing development and addressing key challenges within the Bakori Local Government Area.
