MY ALMA MATER GETS A FACELIFT

The Tsohuwar Kasuwa Nadabo Community Development Association and the Nadabo Primary School Bakori Old Boys Association, Bakori (NABOLBA '76-82) have joined hands and undertaken a number of projects via the use of the Community and Social Development Project, CSDP-AF, at Nadabo primary school.

CSDP is a World Bank assisted project funded by the Federal Government of Nigeria, participating states and the communities where the projects are conducted.

The above named associations, deposited the sum of one million naira, which is ten percent of the total project undertaken, before qualifying for the funding for the project.

The projects included provision of 520 three seater joint desk and lockable school gate, drilling of motorized borehole and provision of overhead tank, general renovation of 9 out of 22 classrooms as well as upward extension of the school front fence.

Nadabo Primary School Bakori started as Elementary School in 1931 with a block of two classrooms. Subsequently, it was upgraded to its current state through these years. It was the former President, Umaru Musa Ƴar'adua, as Katsina State Governor, that upgraded the school to storey buildings that accommodates more students now.

The school produced plenty of successful people from all fields of endeavors you can think of: professors, Ph.Ds, Medical Doctors,  Engineers, businessmen and women, you name them... It was where my father attended between 1939 and 1942.

Notable among the school's product are; Professor Sahalu Junaidu, Director, Iya Abubakar Computer Center, ABU, Zaria; my cousin, Professor Ahmed Mohammed, BUK, Kano; Dr. Ahmed Tijjani Yusuf, one time Secretary-General, NFA; Engineer Muhammad Mohammed Nur Khalil, one time Gubernatorial candidate in Katsina State; my aunt, Hajiya Indo Muhammad, MFR, one time Commissioner in Katsina State and two time principal, FGGC Bakori and Zaria, respectably. The school also produced the current District Head of Bakori, Makama Kt V Idris, two previous District Heads, who were the current District Head's father and uncle. The current member, House of Representatives, representing Bakori/ÆŠanja federal constituency, Amiru Tukur Idris, is also an alumnus of the school. And, of course, lesser bookish people like yours truly.

Makaman Katsina and Amiru Tukur Idris were among those who graced the commissioning of the projects as well as past Headmasters/Headmistresses, teachers of the school.
