About 100 of the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of late Alhaji Barau Bakori, my paternal grandfather, met Saturday, December 29, 2018, in Bakori to fraternize.
Late Alhaji Barau Bakori, whose real name (Abdulmumin) very few people know, was a prominent businessman and politician of his time who lived between 1903 and 1985.
It's quite interesting that whenever we meet I keep seeing new faces of members of this great extended family.
Among the members are a Professor, Medical Doctors, Engineers, Accountants, Bankers, Lawyers, Journalists, Computer Scientists/Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Building Engineers/Technologists, Educationists, Lecturers, many Master's and Bachelor's degree holders, HND, NCE and ND graduates, undergraduates, you name them, they are there among the family.
Among the prominent members of this extended family who could not attend this year's annual congregation were my aunt, Hajiya Indo Muhammad, former commissioner in Katsina State and two time principal at FGGC Bakori & FGGC Zaria, respectively. My uncle, Kabir Barau, a Chemical Engineer, who could not attend, sent his children, among whom is another Engineer. Professor Ahmed Mohammed, a professor of Agricultural Economics at BUK, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, could not attend too. He's my cousin from both my paternal and maternal side; his father is my father's brother and his mother is my mother's sister! Dr. Nafisa Hayatudeen, a medical doctor specializing in psychiatric medicine, her brother, a chemical engineer, Aminu Hayatu, her sister, Barrister Maryam Hayatudeen, all my cousins, could not attend. My favourite cousin, Muazu Dinah, erstwhile of the Arewa24 TV fame also could not attend. Neither could my niece, Madeenarh Moh'd, a doctoral student on cyber security in the UK.
Among this great extended family, I think, they can conceive, design, cost and build the 3rd Niger Bridge, don't you think...? 😃😃😄
