Ever heard that you could rear grssscutter as a form of farming to earn money the way you rear chicken or rabbit? You may have, but never have I in my wildest imagination, heard of such a venture.
Today, as part of our Entrepreuneurship Development Program at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON, Topo Badagry, Lagos, we were taken on an excursion to a grasscutter farm.
The visit is to give us an idea how to set up a small business enterprise.
We were taken to the biggest grasscutter farm in Nigeria or so the owner told us. He has more than a million of the animals in the farm! You may wonder what kind of business it is...well, it's big business I can assure you.
If you're interested in venturing into it, you can start with a family which comprises one male and four females, at the cost of ₦65,000.00. In about 11 months or so, each of the females could deliver 8 to 9 babies! And each of them that weighs 3 kilograms sells for ₦6,000.00! Lucrative, isn't it? 😃
Or you may decide to embark on plantain farming.
We also visited a plantain farm where we were shown how you can turn plantain into gold. It takes about a year to harvest, though...
I've never seen a plantain tree in my life. It's more than 7 feet long, not short like banana.
